{"id":737,"date":"2014-08-15T00:37:14","date_gmt":"2014-08-15T05:37:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/electricityexpress.com\/?p=737"},"modified":"2024-03-29T17:19:15","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T22:19:15","slug":"google-science-fair-tests-brightest-teenagers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/electricityexpress.com\/en\/google-science-fair-tests-brightest-teenagers\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Science Fair Tests the Brightest Teenagers"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Google science fair tests the brightest teenagers<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_22650\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22650\" class=\"wp-image-22650 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/electricityexpress.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2014\/08\/Googletest.jpeg\" alt=\"Google science fair tests the brightest teenagers\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-22650\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Google science fair tests the brightest teenagers<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t your average science fair. \u00a0\u00a0The Google Science Fair is an online competition open to all students between 13 and 18 years old. \u00a090 regional finalists were announced in June, with the final 15 contestants selected this month. \u00a0In September at Google headquarters in Mountainview, California, these teenagers from around the globe will show off their best ideas to a panel of expert judges\u00a0https:\/\/www.googlesciencefair.com\/en\/\u00a0in hopes of winning the grand prize.<\/p>\n<p>Our future&#8217;s best minds come from many places, including Australia, North America, India, Russia, Ukraine and Europe. \u00a0The focuses of the science projects are as diverse as the finalists&#8217; backgrounds. \u00a0One American 14-year old, Trisha Prabhu, takes on cyberbullying. \u00a0Arsh Dilbagi, 16 and from India, seeks to help people with disabilities. \u00a0Another contestant, 17-year old Australian Cynthia Sin Nga Lam\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/inhabitat.com\/teens-brilliant-portable-device-simultaneously-produces-clean-energy-and-fresh-water\/\">http:\/\/inhabitat.com\/teens-brilliant-portable-device-simultaneously-produces-clean-energy-and-fresh-water\/<\/a>, has designed and built a device that purifies wastewater and produces hydrogen to generate electricity.<\/p>\n<p>The judging is tough. \u00a0Among other things, ideas are ranked on their ability to inspire others, capacity to make an impact and excellence of method. \u00a0The judges are equally formidable. \u00a0Beth Moses, for example, is an aerospace engineer for Virgin Galactic, the first commercial spaceline\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.virgingalactic.com\">www.virgingalactic.com<\/a>. \u00a0Dr. John Sotos diagnosed a genetic cancer syndrome in President Abraham Lincoln. \u00a0Professor Steve Cowley works for the UK Atomic Energy Authority. \u00a0They and their colleagues will look very closely at each project to choose the absolute best that these teenagers have to offer.<\/p>\n<h3>Google Science Fair Tests Abilities of Brightest Teens<\/h3>\n<p>What is the Grand Prize?
